Lately, it has been noticed that the coffee growers in various regions of the country are suffering due to a number of reasons. The condition is very pathetic in some regions such as Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and hence, a new scheme has been launched to help these coffee producers in the name of Rainfall Insurance Scheme for Coffee (RISC) – 2011. The central coffee research institute has agreed to this scheme and it has a lot of benefits for the coffee growers, as discussed under:
